Spector debut at number one on UK Record Store Chart

UK newcomers Spector have landed at number one on this week’s UK Record Store chart with their debut album ‘Enjoy It While It Lasts‘.

The new record replaces last week’s chart-topper – The Gaslight Anthem‘s ‘Handwritten‘ – which drops to #7. Elsewhere, The Kinks have two albums in the Top 20, with the compilations ‘…At The BBC‘ and ‘Waterloo Sunset: The Best Of‘ at #8 and #16 respectively on the chart which is compiled entirely from sales registered at independent record shops up and down Britain.

Meanwhile, Emeli Sande‘s ‘Our Version Of Events‘ has moved back to the top of the UK’s main chart this week after her high profile performance at the London Olympics’ closing ceremony – something which is likely to mean another disappointing week of sales across the chart. Elbow – who also featured prominently in the closing ceremony – have seen their ‘The Seldom Seen Kid‘ album rise to #6.
