Kasabian guitarist and chief songwriter Serge Pizzorno has described the band’s upcoming twin headline appearances at the 2012 Reading/Leeds festival as ‘the biggest honour’ of their career to date.

“We’ve come a long way in the last year and experienced some amazing things, but the biggest honour will be headlining Reading and Leeds,” Pizzorno tells today’s Daily Star.

“We were first on years ago and we felt like we earned our stripes. I don’t think this headline slot has come too early because we’ve got four records under our belts now and we appreciated what it means to be up there. And we want to make sure people have an incredible evening. We are so excited to play that show.”

Kasabian will top the bill at Reading/Leeds this weekend along side fellow headliners The Cure and the Foo Fighters. Bands including The Black Keys, The Vaccines and The Maccabees will also make appearances at one of the last major events of the latest UK summer festival season.
