The Arctic Monkeys are on course to enter the Top 20 on the UK Singles Chart this weekend with their cover of The Beatles‘ 1969 track ‘Come Together‘.

The Sheffield band performed the track live during the latter stages of last week’s London Olympics opening ceremony along with their own chart topper ‘I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor‘, with both tracks being later included on the ceremony’s official compilation album ‘Isles of Wonder: Music for the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games‘.

The cover version stands at #19 on the midweek chart, with Underworld‘s ‘Caliban’s Dream‘ – which also features on ‘Isles Of Wonder’ – also going strong at #6.

Elsewhere, current sales figures have Conor Maynard knocking Plan B off the top of the UK’s Album Chart thanks to his new ‘Contrast‘ record, while Mike Oldfield‘s Best Of collection is heading for a Top 10 place after he also performed live at the Olympics’ opening ceremony.

The official chart will be confirmed this coming Sunday (August 5th).
