Blur guitarist Graham Coxon is to score a new musical based on a fictional Britpop band, today’s Sun newspaper claims.
According to the UK tabloid, Coxon has signed up to write the music for the new film, entitled The Wanderers, which is described as a ‘non-conventional Britpop teen musical’. Set in 1996, it will follow a young band from Essex as they attempt to make it big in the era’s Britpop scene. Reports also claim Ash mainman Tim Wheeler is to join Coxon on the project.
Graham Coxon has recently unveiled his first full official single as part of Blur for over decade as the band gears up for a headline appearance at London’s Hyde Park next month. His eighth solo album, ‘A + E‘, was also released earlier this year, but struggled to make any significant impact on the UK Charts.
