Coldplay, Fleet Foxes and Mumford & Sons feature on new African charity album

Coldplay, Fleet Foxes and Mumford & Sons are among the artists to have their tracks re-worked by African musicians Toumani Diabaté, Bassekou Kouyate, the Ali Farka Touré Band and Rokia Traoré for a new charity album.

Rhythms Del Mundo: Africa’ is released this month, and is the fourth in a series of benefit albums recorded in aid of the Artists Project Earth (APE) charity, which was formed in 2004 following the Indian Ocean tsunami disaster.




Also included on the 14-track record are the likes of Plan B, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Cee Lo Green. Fans can pledge money to the project through the PledgeMusic website, where a selection of other offers including posters, tote bags and t-shirts are also available.
