Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has said he believes the Arctic Monkeys are a ‘metal band in disguise’ after booking the British group to appear at the inaugural Orion festival which will take place later this month.
The Metallica-organised event will be held over two days at Bader Field in Atlantic City beginning on June 23rd, and Ulrich has told Rolling Stone that he his confident the Arctic Monkeys will prove to be a key booking for the festival.
“For me, having the Arctic Monkeys on there is big,” Ulrich said. “I think they’re a heavy metal band disguised as an indie band. If you listen to a song like ‘Perhaps Vampires Is a Bit Strong But…’, there’s almost a Rush element in there.”
Other bands due to appear at Orion this year include the Black Angels, Titus Andronicus, The Gaslight Anthem, Modest Mouse, A Place To Bury Strangers, Best Coast and Cage the Elephant.
