Jack White completes UK, US chart double

jackwhite1Jack White has completed his chart topping double on both sides of the Atlantic after hitting number one on the Billboard 200.

White’s debut solo album ‘Blunderbuss‘ shifted 138,000 copies according to figures released this week by Nielsen SoundScan, and is the former White Stripes man’s first US chart topper of his career.

Previously, White Stripes‘ final record ‘Icky Thump‘, which hit no.2 in 2007, was his best chart position in America. The remainder of the Billboard top 4 this week is made up by Adele‘s perennial favourite ‘21‘, veteran Lionel Richie‘s ‘Tuskegee‘ and pop sensations One Direction‘s ‘Up All Night‘.

In the UK, Jack White entered at number one ahead of the likes of Lana Del Rey and Rufus Wainwright last Sunday, though midweek figures released yesterday suggest the album will slip down to #3 when the new rundown is unveiled on May 6th, with Marina & The Diamonds set to be the new number one.
