Damon Albarn cancels Blur recording sessions, claims producer

Work on a new Blur album has been cancelled – at least with William Orbit – by the band’s frontman Damon Albarn, according to the producer himself.

Despite no official word from the group, William Orbit has been leaving messages on Twitter for months which have made it pretty clear Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree had been in the studio with the producer who also manned the desk on their 1999 album ‘13‘ to work on new material.

However, when speaking in this week’s NME, William Orbit has said the new sessions were abruptly halted by Albarn, claiming that: “The new stuff sounded amazing. Then it all stopped suddenly. It was all over with Damon, and the rest of the band were like, ‘is this it?'”.

New album or not, Blur will embark on a short tour of the UK in August to warm up for their headline appearance at Hyde Park in London towards the end of that month.
