BBC 6Music DJ and Fun Lovin’ Criminals mainman Huey Morgan has apologised to his fellow radio host Lauren Laverne after posting a series of critical tweets about her and other colleagues following Monday’s Sony Radio Awards.

Among the tweets sent by Morgan in the wake of the ceremony were messages that read: “They ain’t gonna let some dude from NYC win this shit. Fern, Lauren, Chris. Yeah right, that’s cool? Suckers they come a dime a dozen…”, while also writing that he is:

“…the peoples champ, don’t need no award. Y’all know how it be. Ask me to cover for her and up her ratings. Fuck that shit. Kenickie? Please. You got no idea what I put into my shows. She just shows up and plays in twitter. Ain’t that BS.”

However, Morgan has now also used Twitter to apologise for his remarks, writing: “I was a big fat baby last night & ungentlemanly. Mea Culpa. Twitter isn’t the best platform for people who say shit before they think (as I did last night). I was an ass. That is all.”

BBC 6Music was the big winner at this week’s Sony Awards, taking home the Station Of The Year prize less than two years after being threatened with closure due to cost-cutting measures by the BBC Director General.
