Slash has ‘closed the book’ on Guns N Roses

Slash has said he feels he has now ‘closed the book’ on Guns N Roses following their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame earlier this month.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, the guitarist admitted he held out hopes that the entire original line-up would put their differences to one side and reunite at their induction ceremony, but knew it was ‘wishful thinking’.

“In my heart of hearts I wanted to have the whole original band get together and perform – which I sort of knew was wishful thinking,” he said. “It became apparent it wasn’t going to happen and I was like, ‘Oh, fuck.’ I was disillusioned with the whole thing, but there was that commitment that I was going and I thought Axl was still going to go.”

“I didn’t have any illusions or delusions of GN’R getting back together for anything. I maybe tried to see it happen for this one particular event. I didn’t have high hopes. But now it’s all said and done, it really felt like closing the book on the whole thing.”

With Axl Rose staying away from the ceremony and former guitarist Izzy Stradlin also not showing up, the remaining original members instead aired a selection of tracks from ‘Appetite For Destruction‘ with Alter Bridge frontman Myles Kennedy on vocal duties.
