Former Streets leader Mike Skinner has advised Damon Albarn to follow his lead and stop making music.

In an interview with The Guardian newspaper as he prepares to release the autobiography The Story Of The Streets, Skinner said Albarn should pack in his ‘mad’ style of music which he believes doesn’t sit well with a man in middle age.

“No. It’s like – well, Noel Gallagher has always just stood there and sung a song, and I think you can take that right through to middle age,” Skinner commented when asked if he regrets retiring The Streets. “He’s so graceful, isn’t he? Whereas Damon Albarn, say, needs to stop, ‘cos his kind of music is, ‘I’m a bit mad!’. Eurgh, it just doesn’t work. And unfortunately my music is, ‘I’m a bit mad.’ So no. No regrets at all.”

After releasing five studio albums during a nine year career, Mike Skinner brought an end to The Streets in 2011. The Story Of The Streets memoirs will be released on March 29th.
