Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has given fans an update on his treatment for cancer, and is hoping his body will ‘get back to normal soon’.

Iommi was diagnosed with the illness not long after Black Sabbath announced their reunion intentions late last year, putting those plans on hold while he receives his treatment.

Writing on Iommi.com, Tony Iommi also thanked his Sabbath bandmates for travelling over to England to allow the band to continue recording new material, which he has described as ‘great’.

“I’ve had the last dose of chemotherapy so hopefully my body will start to get back to normal soon, the steroids were the worse,” he said. “I’ve now got three weeks of radiotherapy coming up which I’m told can be very tiring so we’ll see.”

“A big thanks to Ozzy and Geezer for coming over to England, it was a big incentive for me, we managed to work most days and have some great new tracks. And, importantly thanks again for your kind messages, hope to be seeing you soon.”
