The Black Keys have recorded a track with the hotly-tipped British singer Michael Kiwanuka, reports BBC Newsbeat.

The Black Keys guitarist and singer Dan Auerbach has told Newsbeat the track was laid down with the BBC Sound Of 2012 winner in Ray Davies‘ studio, and was completed ‘really quick’.

“It was great – really quick,” Auerbach said. “We went and did it really quick at Ray Davies’s studio. It was nice. Obviously his voice is amazing and the songs are cool. The production on that stuff is great too – I like what the guy is doing.”

Michael Kiwanuka came out on top in the BBC’s annual Sound Of poll last month after a string of impressive EP releases during 2011. His much anticipated debut album, ‘Home Again‘, will hit the shelves on March 12th.

The Black Keys recently rounded off a UK tour with three sold out dates at London’s Alexandra Palace, gigs which Auerbach has described as ‘amazing’. “They were amazing,” he commented. “Every show we’ve done in Europe was better than any tour we’ve done before. The shows were sometimes four times as big as the ones we’ve done before. It was pretty overwhelming – it was wild.”
