The Horrors frontman Faris Badwan has been accused of punching a fan at a recent gig in Liverpool, though a band spokesman has insisted the incident amounted to nothing more than ‘a clip round the ear’.

Pete Guy of merseyblogs, who was in attendance at the Liverpool Kazimier show last Tuesday (January 17th), has given NME his account of the alleged altercation:

“The Horrors were playing ‘Three Decades’ and out of nowhere, Faris punched the lad in the side of the face and that sparked at least six other lads in the crowd into kicking off at Jake. He got booted in the face and there was a scuffle for a couple of minutes before a bouncer pulled him out of the crowd and he was taken out the venue.”

In response, a spokesman for The Horrors has said Badwan was reacting to a person in the crowd who was ‘causing trouble’, adding: “Faris gave him a clip round the ear at the end, but that’s all, there wasn’t a fight.”
