The Cribs’ Ryan Jarman glad to be back as a three-piece

The Cribs guitarist Ryan Jarman has said the group’s return to being a trio following the departure of Johnny Marr last year has led to them rediscovering the magic of their earlier records.

“Working with Johnny was something I really enjoyed, but what it’s made me realise is that this is the way it’s meant to be,” Jarman told NME.

“I liked the last record and it was a progression, but there was something lost in translation. It was something indefinable – but it’s back.”

The Cribs’ new album, the follow-up to 2009’s ‘Ignore The Ignorant‘ and the band’s first as a three-piece since 2007, is said to have the working title of ‘In The Belly Of The Brazen Bull’, and was recorded in New York with MGMT and Mercury Rev cohort Dave Fridmann, while additional production was provided by Steve Albini in Chicago and the band themselves back in London at Abbey Road.
