Brit Awards host James Corden has praised the influence of this year’s Outstanding Contribution winners Blur, claiming there ‘hasn’t been a more important band’.

“Damon is a shining light in British culture so I always get slightly starstruck,” Corden told The Sun newspaper. “It will be an honour to be in the same room as him. Blur winning their Outstanding Contribution award will be special. There hasn’t been a more important band.”

After being presented with their award, Blur are due to perform live at the ceremony next month along with the likes of Adele, Coldplay and Noel Gallagher. It will be their first high profile appearance together since a highly acclaimed reunion tour back in 2009.

With rumours of low-key Blur recording sessions still abound, guitarist Graham Coxon has recently confirmed his own latest solo album, ‘A&E‘, will be released on April 2nd. The record is due to be supported by a UK tour set to begin at the Oxford Academy on April 13th.
