Inspiral Carpets to support Happy Mondays on reunion tour

The Inspiral Carpets will support The Happy Mondays on the Manchester band’s comeback May tour, it has been announced.

A statement was released to promoters earlier this month indicating the Mondays’ intentions to make a return, and now the band members themselves have made their first comments on the plans.

“We all met up last week and some of the lads haven’t seen each other in over 10, 15 years,” Shaun Ryder has said. “It’s as if we’ve never been apart – so good to all be in the same room again. We can’t wait now to get on tour and play the songs that made us famous.”

While Rowetta Satchell told BBC Radio Manchester’s Darryl Morris: “It’s been in the making for ages. We’ve been talking about it for a long time, but it’s been about getting everybody to say yes, because it was decided from the beginning it would only be special and work if it was a total, original line-up.”
