Coldplay, Noel Gallagher have biggest selling rock albums of 2011

Coldplay‘s fifth album ‘Mylo Xyloto‘ was by far the biggest selling rock album of 2011, with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds in second place, figures released by the Official Chart Company show.

‘Mylo Xyloto’ shifted 908,000 units during the course of 2011, putting it comfortably ahead of Noel Gallagher‘s debut solo record which sold close to half a million copies.

Coldplay also enjoyed the highest selling rock single of the past year, with ‘Paradise‘ selling over 400,000 copies as it became the first UK number one of 2012.
