Suede frontman Brett Anderson has confirmed the band are writing a new album following a series of successful reunion shows, and despite again insisting the fate of any release will depend on the quality of their fresh material, he has declared the sessions as ‘very exciting’.

“We’re writing a new Suede album,” Anderson told BBC 6Music. “We don’t know how that’s going to turn out. If it’s not amazing, I don’t think we’ll release it. We’re just at the writing stage and it feels pretty good and it’s very exciting.”

“I wish I knew,” he continued when asked for a possible release date. “We’re just at the writing stage, we’ve written about seven or eight songs and who knows if any of those will make it on to the final album. We might go somewhere completely different.”

Brett Anderson issued the solo record ‘Black Rainbows‘ last September. Described by Anderson as a return to his rock band roots, the single ‘Brittle Heart‘ featured in Live4ever’s 2011 Essential Listening series.
