Friendly Fires have been forced to cancel further shows at Nottingham Rock City tonight (November 14th) and the Newcastle O2 Academy tomorrow due to a viral throat infection being suffered by frontman Ed MacFarlane.

The band had to pull a gig in Southampton over the weekend after McFarlane fell ill, telling fans at the time: “It is with great regret that tonight’s show in Southampton has to be postponed. We apologise to our fans who were looking forward to seeing us perform tonight. So sorry.”

Friendly Fires’ next scheduled gig is at the Manchester Apollo on Thursday (November 17th) which is currently unaffected, while the band have indicated the cancelled shows will be re-scheduled with original tickets being valid for the new dates.

Friendly Fires are out on the road in support of 2011 album ‘Pala‘ which, led by the big radio hit ‘Live Those Days Tonight‘, handed the St. Albans group a top 10 hit in the UK upon its release in May.
