UK Star Plan B Recruiting a ‘Punk Band’ For New Album

Plan B has said he is working on recruiting a punk band from his local London neighborhood as he looks for another musical reinvention on his third album.

Plan B, real name Ben Drew, has traversed rap, R n B, soul and hints of Motown on his previous two albums ‘Who Needs Actions When You Got Words‘ and the big-selling commerical breakthrough of 2010 ‘The Defamation Of Strickland Banks‘.

And now, he has told the Daily Star newspaper the attitude of punk rock will be the bedrock for his latest journey.

“Me and my backing band are always working on ideas in soundcheck and I want to turn it into a proper band,” he said. “It’s going to be a real punk band – not in terms of the sound, but having a proper punk ethos in our attitude.”

‘The Defamation Of Strickland Banks’ marked an incredible transformation for Plan B, who moved on from gritty, urban rapper to be-suited, Smokey Robinson-esque bandleader in the space of just two albums, and in doing so enjoyed huge critical and commercial success in the UK.
