Manic Street Preachers May Never Release Another Single

Nicky Wire has said the Manic Street Preachers may not add to the 38 singles which make up their forthcoming ‘National Treasures‘ collection, due to the ever evolving changes in the way music is now released.

“I think for a certain incarnation of the band it is a sort of end,” he told XFM. “I dunno if we’ll be releasing singles again. The way everything in the music industry has changed, for an old guitar band like us to be bothering the charts seems somehow quaint.”

Wire has also been insistent on his belief that the Welsh band will embark on a prolonged break from music once an appearance at London’s O2 Arena in December is completed. However, he told XFM those plans do not mark the end of the group.

“It’s definitely not the end of the band, we’re still in love with each other and the notion of one final re-invention,” he continued. “We’re trying to think of a final third way.”

‘National Treasures’ is due for release on October 31st.
