The La’s Announce Plans For ‘Full Band’ Return

thelasThe La’s have revealed they plan to return to the music fold as a ‘full band’ in the near future as they prepare to wrap up a series of low-key acoustic shows at the Liverpool Academy on September 9th.

Since the band’s reclusive frontman Lee Mavers made his first live appearance in over two years a few months ago at Manchester’s Deaf Institute, under the assumed banner Lee Rude & The Velcro Underpants, further gigs have been arranged during the course of the summer, and now a post on their official Twitter page has outlined plans for more touring this autumn.

“We will play the last of our stripped back sets at O2 academy in Liverpool this Friday,” the Tweet reads. “We would like thank everyone who has turned up over the summer to support us. We hope to be back soon with a full band.”

The La’s issued their classic self-titled debut in 1990. However, largely due to the erratic behaviour of Mavers, which had already manifested itself during the album’s recording when he eventually dis-owned the final product, it remains their only studio release.
