Miles Kane Admits To ‘Dark Periods’ During Solo Album Sessions

Miles Kane has admitted the creation of his debut solo album ‘Colour Of The Trap‘ was a huge struggle at times, but is now glad to have taken his time in achieving the best possible finished product.

“It wasn’t easy, there were dark periods,” the former Rascals songwriter told The Independent. “But I had that belief. I didn’t do a gig or an interview or a photo for nearly two years which sort of killed me because I love it.”

“There was a time halfway through making the record and I thought, ‘nah, let’s just leave it at that’, but it wouldn’t have been half as good as it is. I’m glad that I listened to my manager and mates and took my time because that made it what it is.”

Kane also admitted to being aware of the need to ‘prove a point’ due to some perceiving him primarily as simply ‘Alex Turner‘s best mate’ after the pair released the superb ‘Age Of The Understatement‘ album under the banner of The Last Shadow Puppets back in 2008.

“There was definitely a point to prove because a lot of people out there just see me as Al’s best mate and the new kid that was in the Puppets who didn’t really do anything,” he continued.

“I’m not soft, I know some people think that. With this record I wanted to be like, ‘well here’s a great album and you can either take it or leave it’. I think I’ve turned a lot of people’s heads, definitely.”

‘Colour Of The Trap’ was released in the May of this year, and has been an undoubted critical and commercial success.
