Mike Mills Admits To ‘Sadness’ At R.E.M Split

Former R.E.M bassist Mike Mills has spoken of his ‘sadness’ that he will never share a platform with Michael Stipe and Peter Buck again, but has insisted the former bandmates are happy with the tough decision they have made.

“There is sadness because I will never play on the same stage as Peter and Michael again,” he told Rolling Stone. “We’re doing this for good reasons, and we will end up looking back at all the fun, the joy and the incredible opportunities we had. It’s not because we have to, or we can’t stand each other, or we suck. We’re happy, but we’re done.”

Meanwhile, R.E.M have also confirmed details for their forthcoming Greatest Hits compilation. To be released on November 14th, ‘REM, Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage 1982- 2011‘ will include three new tracks, ‘Hallejulah‘, ‘A Month Of Saturdays‘ and ‘We All Go Back To Where We Belong‘, the latter of which will precede the album’s release as a single on October 18th.
