X Factor Winner Matt Cardle Compared To Coldplay, Travis & Snow Patrol

travisSongwriter-for-hire Guy Chambers has compared recent UK X Factor winner Matt Cardle to successful commercial British bands Coldplay, Travis and Snow Patrol.

Chambers, best known for his writing credits with Robbie Williams, has worked on two songs set to feature on Cardle’s debut album, and believes the latest product off the Simon Cowell production line can match the guitar-led trio’s achievements.

“He’s a cross between Coldplay, Travis and Snow Patrol,” Chambers told The Sun. “It’s very accessible but it’s also very powerful and emotive. He’s got some really good tracks and he’s a very nice guy. I’ve enjoyed working with him.”

“I hope he’ll be a success but obviously it will be hard for him to compete with Leona Lewis because she is a worldwide hit.”

After winning the X Factor late last year, Matt Cardle immediately dipped his toes into the rock world when Biffy Clyro‘s ‘Many Of Horror‘ was picked to launch the show’s annual assault on the UK Christmas Number One.

Despite a series of concerted internet campaigns to keep the track off the top, which included a bid to push Biffy’s original to the summit, Cardle’s cover comfortably won the race for number one.
