Hard-Fi have revealed their comeback single ‘Good For Nothing‘ is inspired principally by the Jay-Z classic ‘99 Problems‘, but have made sure the differences are pronounced enough to avoid any issues, saying they’ve ‘made enough changes not to be sued’.

In an interview with BBC Newsbeat, frontman Richard Archer explained how the similarities came about simply because he was listening to the tune while writing his band’s new material.

“When I wrote the tune, I wrote the tune to ’99 Problems’,” he said. “That was the sample I used just to get it off the ground, so that’s why it probably sounds a lot like ’99 Problems’.”

The single will feature on Hard-Fi’s new album ‘Killer Sounds‘, due out in September and their first since 2007’s ‘Once Upon a Time In The West‘, which sparked debate, and criticism in some quarters, for its novel approach to artwork.

In 2005, the London band released their debut ‘Stars Of CCTV‘, which, along with a clutch of their guitar-led contemporaries, received a Mercury Music Prize nomination that year.
