Graham Coxon Remembers Past Blur Punch-Ups

Blur guitarist Graham Coxon has lifted the lid on some of the band’s more volatile moments, pointing to early Nineties tours when the group would come to blows after months on the road.

Speaking to NME on the subject of punch-ups, Coxon remarked: “Blur did occasionally when we were very tired in 1992 in America. I think we all had black eyes at one point. We were probably drunk when we gave each other black eyes so we didn’t really feel it, we just woke up with them.”

Later however, Coxon spoke specifically on the nature of one such incident, which didn’t exactly have the most rock n roll of origins, being started as it was by an errant salmon.

“I think when Alex threw a salmon out of the window in Paris and we were really upset with him,” he remembered. “He was being fanatically vegetarian.”

Despite constant rumours Blur’s memorable 2009 reunion would lead to a new album from the band, and several hints from Coxon that the four bandmates had met up to record, no concrete plans for a record have yet surfaced.
