The Drums Unveil Two New Members

New York band The Drums have expanded to a five-piece after unveiling drummer Chris Stein and guitarist Myles Matheny as new members.

The move follows previous guitarist Adam Kessler‘s departure late last year. With the arrival of Stein, former drummer Connor Hanwick will now take over duties on keys.

Speaking in this week’s edition of NME, frontman Jonathan Pierce outlined how he believes the new line-up will make the band a better live prospect.

“The spirit of the band is the same, but the line-up has changed,” he said. “There are no more backing tracks. It’s such a pain to bring them on the road and the show is better now than ever.”

The Drums are currently working on their second album after a successful 2010 which began with a place on the BBC’s respected Sound Of list, before their self-titled debut album was released through Moshi Moshi and Island Records to a warm critical response in June.
