Jack White Working On Music For New Kinks Film

KinksDisgraceFormer White Stripes mainman Jack White is reportedly in discussions to record the score for a new Kinks project being headed up by actor Bobcat Goldthwait.

The music will be for a film set around The Kinks’ 1975 concept album ‘Schoolboys In Disgrace‘, with Ray Davies working on the movie as executive producer. Screen Daily claims White has been approached with a view to re-recording the album for the film.

The album centres around the childhood life of Mr. Flash, a villain who featured on The Kinks’ earlier releases ‘Preservation: Act 1‘ (1973) and ‘Preservation: Act 2‘ (1974). Speaking on the movie, Goldthwait said the story will act as an antidote to the many ‘unrealistic’ high school musicals.

“It’s the genesis story of a supervillain set to music,” he remarked. “It’s the story of the world’s most charming criminal and a realistic high school musical for all the kids who hate sugary, sweet, unrealistic high school musicals.”
