Johnny Marr Ends Three Year Stay With The Cribs

imgJohnny Marr1Former Smiths legend Johnny Marr has ended his three year association with The Cribs, it has been announced.

Johnny Marr’s time with The Cribs was originally confined to the stage, but he was soon unveiled as a full time member in 2008 and worked with the band on their 2009 album ‘Ignore The Ignorant‘.

In an interview with Billboard magazine, featured on his official website, Marr outlined his own solo plans, and stated his sense of pride at the work done with Ryan, Gary and Ross Jarman.

“I’m working on new solo songs,” he said. “I’ll be putting out two records over the next year or so and doing more film soundtrack work. Touring and recording with Ryan, Gary and Ross has been fantastic and ‘Ignore The Ignorant’ is something I’m really proud of. We ended up doing much more than we originally set out to and I’ve made three good friends.”

The Cribs are due to resume life as a three-piece shortly, after revealing last month their plans to return to the studio to begin work on a fifth studio album after completing festival commitments this summer.
