With their proud musical tradition which stretches right back to the earliest days of British rock n roll, residents of Manchester have much to be proud of, and it seems they’re quite happy with the current scene going on in their locality after the city finished top in a recent poll which asked the simple question: “Do you have enough local gigs in your area?”

The new poll, conducted by PRS for Music who asked over 3,000 people in total, found 77% of Manchester residents answered positively to the survey’s question, a figure that was matched by Newcastle locals. The wider Lancashire area found the fourth most satisifed local gig-goers, while, perhaps due to recent high profile closures, the London population were only fifth.

More general county areas made up the least satisfied pollsters, with Derbyshire topping the list of unimpressed music lovers, followed by Somerset, Yorkshire, Kent and Essex.
