Fleet Foxes Re-Recorded Entire New Album

Fleet Foxes frontman Robin Pecknold has admitted the band re-recorded their entire new album after problems late last year delayed the release.

Pecknold was left red-faced last October when he was forced to contradict a previous message on Facebook that announced the completion of their second record with an update which stated they in fact ‘still has a ways to go’.

Now, Pecknold has revealed the full extent of those issues, telling Uncut the band decided to re-work the record in full after being unhappy with its initial mix.

“When we did the first mix of the album it was like, ‘This is where we’re at, not where we want to be’,” he said. “I felt there were things that could be improved. I wasn’t being precious about it. I wanted the album finished and out as much as anyone. But as soon as we started retooling one or two of the tracks, that opened the floodgates.”

“There was absolutely no chance I was going to ever put out something that I wasn’t totally convinced was as good as it could possibly be. I didn’t care how many times we had to re-record stuff.”

The new album, entitled ‘Helplessness Blues‘, will be released on May 2nd.
