Danny O’Donoghue, songwriter with pop band The Script, has laid into Pulp and their enigmatic frontman Jarvis Cocker, who the group are due to share a stage with at this year’s T in the Park festival.
O’Donoghue told Scotland’s Daily Record newspaper Jarvis Cocker should ‘steer clear’ of him when the two group play T in the Park, and was quite blunt in his dislike for the influential Sheffield band.
“I am not a big Pulp fan. Jarvis Cocky. I’m not into him at all,” he said. “I don’t like his style. I don’t like his music. I won’t be steering clear of him, but he should be steering clear of me.”
“I have watched his career. I’d like to think Pulp are coming out with a new album or that he wants to really do a job in the music industry, but I am sure they will release a single, do a tour, make their money and go home.”
Later, despite Jarvis Cocker’s often essential views on the world, O’Donoghue added: “The audacity of Jarvis Cocker to think he is important enough for people to give a damn what he thinks.”
Pulp announced their reformation after months of rumours in November last year.
I doubt it seriously that Danny ever said that. it’s a total lie and they have already replied to this. The Script are not the type of group that slams other people.. Just leave it alone
He’s not exactly an influential singer is he? He should try listening to a full pulp album so he should.
This is completely false. I’m a huge fan of The Script and I’ve never heard Danny say anything negative about another musician in an interview so I very much doubt he would have changed character for this one.
This is too funny to take seriously! I mean Jarvis Cocker and Pulp border on genius and The Script? Well the less said about them, the better.
Ha! This is just sour grapes because they got moved down the bill and their very poor attempt at being street cred with some publicity.
Sad b*******
If this is true….Sheesh…
