2010 X Factor Winner Is UK’s Christmas Number One

No amount of Facebook campaigns could prevent Simon Cowell’s hold over the UK’s traditional Christmas Number One returning yesterday, as the 2010 X Factor winner Matt Cardle comfortably claimed this week’s number one spot with his cover of Biffy Clyro’s ‘Many Of Horror’. The effort to push the Scottish rock band’s original version to no.1 fell some way short, with the track re-entering at no.8. A similar group aiming to push The Trashmen’s novelty single ‘Surfin Bird’ up the charts was more successful (#3), while The Pogues’ classic festive single ‘Fairytale Of New York’ is once again in the top twenty for Christmas.

On the Christmas Album chart, Take That remain on top with their new record ‘Progress’, while Kings Of Leon drop out of the top ten (#11).
