Britpop legends Pulp have announced they are to reform for a series of shows which will include a performance at next year’s Wireless Festival.

The band, who disbanded in 2002 following the release of ‘We Love Life‘, have issued a statement explaining the details of the return, which will feature the original line-up of Jarvis Cocker, drummer Nick Banks, keyboard player Candida Doyle, bass guitarist Steve Mackey, guitarist/violinist Russell Senior and guitarist Mark Webber who enjoyed the peak of their success in the mid-to-late Nineties.

“Pulp have decided to get together and play some concerts next summer,” a spokesman said. “The shows will involve all the original members of the band and they will be playing songs from all periods of their career. This will be the first time that all the original Pulp members have been on stage together since 24th August 1996.”

The band will make their official return at Spain’s Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona in May next year, before making their long-awaited UK bow at Wireless in July.

Speaking of the booking, Wireless promoter Steve Homer said: “Wireless has a long tradition of pulling off extraordinary coups and next year is no exception. We’re delighted to be welcoming Pulp to headline in 2011. This is guaranteed to be a must-see event.”

In 1995, Pulp performed one of Glastonbury’s most celebrated sets when they stole the show that year after being confirmed as the late replacement for original headliners The Stone Roses.
