British stadium-fillers Coldplay are the act most likely to send music fans to sleep, according to a new survey carried out by Travelodge.
Coldplay are joined in the top ten by fellow British bands Snow Patrol and Radiohead, while solo acts such as Alicia Keys, Leona Lewis and Taylor Swift also dominated the new poll. The research reports 84 per cent of the UK population listens to music in bed, with one in four of those questioned claiming to ‘fall asleep with their iPod on’.

Commenting on the new list, Stevie Williams, sleep expert at the Edinburgh Sleep Centre, explained how soft music associated with bands such as Coldplay and Snow Patrol can aid sleep patterns. “Results from various sleep studies undertaken with a variety of male and female groups has indicated that listening to soft, relaxing music at bedtime leads to a number of different benefits to a night’s sleep,” he said.
“These benefits include a longer sleep duration period, fewer night time awakenings and shortening of the time it takes to fall asleep.”
