Problems Delay New Fleet Foxes Album

Not long after using Facebook to inform fans work on their second album had all but finished, Fleet Foxes frontman Robin Pecknold has returned to the site today to do a spot of backtracking, and has said the new record actually ‘still has a ways to go’.

The follow up to their hugely acclaimed self-titled debut seemed to be imminent after Pecknold’s comments last month, when he wrote: “Well, recording is done! We are flying to New York tomorrow to mix and master the album and will have information about release date and when you’ll get to hear a song or two SOON. Geologically soon but soon.”

However, things must not have gone exactly to plan during the intervening few weeks, and Pecknold was back on Facebook today to write: “Hey, so, I guess I spoke too soon before. The record, while close to being done, still has a ways to go. Would have been nice to have realized this BEFORE flying to New York to finish it, but so it goes. This is how the first record went too.

I think two songs were kept from the first batch of 12 we recorded for that album. Back into the cave. Thanks for waiting/caring, we just want it to be really great.”

No release date had been released for the new album, which was rumoured to have the working title ‘Deepwater Horizon‘.
