As six debuts are set to feature on the Billboard Hot 100 of October 16th, the cast of the hit TV show Glee will surpass The Beatles’ long-standing record for the most appearances from a non-solo act in the chart’s history.

The new releases will see the Glee Cast notch up 75 Hot 100 chart entries, beating The Beatles’ previous best of 71 charted tracks. The fresh entries from the cast will consist of five Britney Spears covers, and a take of Paramore’sThe Only Exception‘.

The Fab Four racked up their 71 places on the Hot 100 between 1964-1996; in contrast, it has taken Glee just under 18 months to pass the total thanks to the multiple releases from their record label following each episode. Ironically, two Beatles covers from the show, ‘Hello Goodbye‘ and a new version of ‘I Want to Hold Your Hand‘, have helped to push Glee beyond the legendary group’s haul.

In addition to The Beatles, the Glee Cast have also muscled in on the records of a selection of other classic artists, and are now third in the list, only trailing Elvis Presley (108 titles) and James Brown (91), while they will also move ahead of Ray Charles (74) and Aretha Franklin (73).
