Voting Underway For 2010 UK Festival Awards

After another summer of expensive beer, bad weather and memorable performances, voting is now open for this year’s annual UK Festival Awards.

The voting will be split into two sections, with the first stage of voting deciding the nominees, followed by a second stage in a month’s time to decide the winners which will be announced at a ceremony on November 18th.

Last year, the Glastonbury festival took home the two major prizes, winning Best Major Festival and Best Headline Performance for Blur’s appearance on the Sunday night that year. Kings Of Leon’s smash hit single ‘Sex On Fire‘ won the Anthem Of The Summer, while T In The Park won the award for the all important Best Toilets Category.

Commenting on this year’s festival season, the awards’ Managing Director James Drury said: “It’s been a fantastic season, which has further demonstrated the British love of festivals. The UK Festival Awards is the chance for the public to tell the industry which were their favourite events. Last year 500,000 votes were cast and we’re expecting even more people will get involved this time.”

Voting is open now at the Festival Awards website, and those who vote will be entered into a draw to win two tickets to every subsequent winning festival.
