Travis Frontman Fran Healy Busks In Aid Of War Child Charity

ed_imgfran-healy_340861aFran Healy has taken to the streets of London to play a selection of Travis hits in support of the War Child charity. Healy performed tracks such as ‘Why Does It Always Rain On Me‘, ‘Writing To Reach You‘ and ‘Turn‘ outside the city’s Deutsche Bank complex, which has named War Child on it’s shortlist for the 2011 Charity of the Year.

The Travis frontman has spoken of his busking experience, saying he hopes the idea will increase awareness for the charity which has enjoyed the support of countless musicians in recent years. “The impact of war on children is simply unacceptable, but with our support War Child are doing something about it,” he said. “I hope this got people talking about War Child. It’s a charity and cause I’d urge everyone to support.”

War Child’s music director Ben Knowles also commented on the role played by music in the charity’s history. “Music has long been a crucial way of War Child raising the awareness and funds these children vitally need,” he explained. “Deutsche Bank’s commitment to charity is a life-changing one. We hope this has helped more people to consider War Child, and has been another example of the exciting way we use the support of some amazing musicians. We cannot thank Fran enough.”

Fran Healy’s debut solo album, ‘Wreckorder‘, is due for release in the UK on October 4th, with the US release following a day later.
