the_beastie_boysA list of fifteen acts which have been nominated for inclusion on the prestigious Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame have been unveiled today, with Alice Cooper, Bon Jovi and Beastie Boys amongst those shortlisted.

Five hundred industry insiders have been posted ballots after which they will select the act to be inducted from the list of nominees which also includes Neil Diamond, Tom Waits, Chic, Donovan, Dr. John, J. Geils Band, LL Cool J, Darlene Love, Laura Nyro, Donna Summer, Joe Tex, and Chuck Willis.

A ceremony at the Waldorf Astoria in New York in March will officially induct the winners which will first be announced in December. Artists eligible for inclusion this year mush have released their first single or album at least 25 years ago.

Beastie Boys are likely to be one of the front-runners this year after a hugely successful career which started with a bang in 1986 with the big-selling debut album ‘Licensed To Ill‘, a record which included one of their biggest hits ‘(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!)‘.

Last year’s inductees were ABBA, Genesis, Jimmy Cliff, The Hollies, and The Stooges.
