Rock heavyweights Muse are set to bring the curtain down on the first day of Scotland’s T In The Park festival tonight, with various acts already talking up what is always one of the highlights of the UK festival season.

Speaking to NME ahead of their King Tuts headline spot tomorrow night, Mumford & Sons, who received one of the best responses at last month’s Glastonbury, spoke of their hopes for one of T’s signature sing-a-longs. “The Scottish crowd are definitely up for a sing-song,” declared accordion player Ben Lovett. “Hopefully it will be our biggest one yet because we’ve spent a lot of time up in the Highlands playing gigs. So we’re quite excited about people coming down.”

While Liam Fray, frontman of Manchester’s The Courteeners, also told the NME of his fond memories of T In The Park. “We played in the King Tuts Wah Wah Tent last year, we could have filled the place twice over,” he said. “We always have a great time up there, there’s definitely something in the water up there. People always say Scotland have the best crowd and they do by a fucking mile.”

Muse will be followed on the festival’s Main Stage by US superstar Eminem on Saturday, before Kasabian make their hotly-anticipated return to the festival on Sunday.
