Acclaimed songwriter Edwyn Collins has released details of his first studio album to consist of songs written after a life-threatening illness in 2005, which is set to feature the likes of Johnny Marr, Franz Ferdinand and Ryan Jarman.

Entitled ‘Losing Sleep‘, the new album will be released on September 13th and was recorded between November 2008 and May this year at his West Heath Studios and was co-produced by Collins along with Sebastian Lesley. Collins, who suffered a severe brain hemorrhage in February 2005, has co-written two tracks with The Cribs’ Ryan Jarman (‘What Is My Role‘ and ‘I Still Believe In You‘) and has also co-written ‘Come Tomorrow, Come Today‘, with Jarman’s Cribs colleague and former Smiths legend Johnny Marr. Also appearing on the album will be The Magic Numbers’ Romeo Stodart, hotly-tipped indie band The Drums and Aztec Camera singer Roddy Frame.

Collins continues his rehabilitation, and released his sixth solo album ‘Home Again‘, which consisted of tracks written before his illness, in September 2007 and returned to the live stage shortly after.
