Live4ever favorites Band of Skulls are currently working on the follow-up to their debut album, ‘Baby Darling Doll Face Honey.’

The trio’s drummer Matt Hayward spoke to Spinner during their European tour in Italy and explained that they’re heading back into the studio after a scheduled concert at London’s Forum on October 7.

Matt said, “That show will probably finish the tour, then we’ll get cracking on the second album. Everyone’s itching to get back into the studio. We’re aiming to be releasing another record early next year. We all write individually, then come together in the studio. Everyone’s got bits and pieces written already. It’s a bit competitive between the three of us as to which ideas we follow up and work on though!”

But First off the Southhampton group will be playing a free show in London on the Thames-moored boat ‘The HMS President’ on June 11th.

Matt added, “This European tour has been full of incredibly random venues. We’ve played on a boat already, we’ve played in a circus tent and tonight we’re playing on a beach. We’re really looking forward to another floating gig!”

The debut LP which wasn’t physically released until March 2010 is releasing it’s follow up single to ‘Death by Diamonds and Pearls’ from last May with the tune ‘Fires’ which is scheduled for release on September 13th, just a week ahead of the deluxe version release of the album. Included in the 5 additional tracks is a the song ‘Friends’ which featured on the soundtrack of ‘Twilight Saga: New Moon.’

Matt continued, “People are turning up to our shows because of that. We were very excited when we were asked to do it, then when we saw we were on the soundtrack with the likes of Thom Yorke, Muse and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, we were very flattered.”

“The nice thing is, it’s a group of people who wouldn’t necessarily get into our band otherwise, we’re reaching a whole new group of people. It’s amazing!”
