Alternative rock music icons, The Psychedelic Furs are about to embark on their 2010 North American Tour. The trek which kicks off in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on May 26thwill continue across the continent until closing in Houston, Texas on July 2nd. Los Angeles based duo She Wants Revenge will join the Furs on the bill.
The Furs, formed in England in the late seventies by brothers Richard and Tim Butler, and are highly regarded as a leader in the British post-punk scene of the early 1980’s. After blasting on to the North American airwaves with“Love My Way” in 1982, the band enjoyed super-stardom when their “Pretty In Pink” became the title song of the late John Hughes’ hugely popular teen-angst film. The band’s success in the states continued throughout the decadewith both sold-out tours and several more chart smashes. After a hiatus in 1992 to pursue personal projects, the Butlers reformed the band in 2001. The Psychedelic Furs, are enjoying a bit of resurgence lately and have also hinted at plans to record a new studio album. Furs lead singer Richard Butler says. “There’s always been great tension and energy in what we do. But it’sreally all about the fans of the band. That’s what keeps it fun. Without them we wouldn’t still be here.”Tickets for all dates are on sale now at venue box offices and at ticketmaster.com For more information, visit www.thepsychedelicfurs.com.
