Electro-rockers The Big Pink, led principally by Robbie Furze and Milo Cordell, have revealed they are already turning their attention to recording a new album, following the release of their debut LP ‘A Brief History Of Love‘ in September last year.

Speaking to BBC 6Music, Milo Cordell said the duo are itching to get to work on a new album, and will record at New York’s Electric Lady studio, made famous by Jimi Hendrix, for a month. “We’re constantly thinking about it, every day,” said Cordell. “What was so much fun about writing the first record was working out what was going to influence us – and not knowing. We didn’t really know what we were doing. We didn’t even know we were writing ‘a record’. When we first started we were just writing songs, we weren’t even a band. It was just me and Robbie writing songs. This time we want to make a record from beginning to end.”

Later, Cordell also discussed the direction they hope to explore when they begin work on the new material: “Well we know who we want to rip off. There are loads of things that influence us. We’ve been talking about it and getting those conversations going. Everything’s written and ready to go, we just need to take it to a bigger studio than ours. We’re going to record in New York, in Jimi Hendrix’s’ old studio Electric Lady for a month and just nail it. But we love our songs and they seem to be working.”

The dance/rock sound showcased on their debut, sounding like the best of the late-80s House scene, brought the duo critical acclaim, while the single ‘Dominos‘ was a radio-hit and handed the band their first top 40 single a week before the release of the album. The song also went on to win the Best Track award at this year’s NME Awards.
