News on Arcade Fire’s new single, Coldplay’s possible festival appearence, and the latest on Liam Gallagher’s move into film-making…

Arcade Fire look set to finally return in the next couple of week’s after posting a message outlining their plans on their official website. The Canadian band, who have spent time out of the spotlight since releasing their second album ‘Neon Bible‘ in 2007, told fans: “Howdy yall – just finishing up pressing our new 12’. Should be in stores in the next couple of weeks. God willing.”

The band have also recently confirmed that they will air more new material when they headline this summer’s Reading/Leeds Festivals.

With this year’s Glastonbury Festival set to celebrate it’s 40th anniversary next month, organiser Michael Eavis has already given an insight into their plans for next year, with Coldplay looking likely to headline, Eavis told the BBC: “They’ve played four or five times already but they’ll be back next year, I’m sure.”

This year’s festival will be led by U2, Muse and Stevie Wonder.

and finally, former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has inisited his plans to produce a new Beatles film based on the book ‘The Longest Cocktail Party‘ by Richard DiLello does not signal a more permanent move into film-making. He told the Press Association: “I’m not going into films, this is the last thing for me. I mean I’m not going to get sucked into that. I’m going to do this one thing because I like it, and I’ve got the opportunity to do it, and Andrew’s (collaborator Andrew Eaton) going to make it happen, and that’s it.”

Liam’s as-yet-unnamed new band is set to release it’s first single in October this year.
