Former Smiths legend Johnny Marr is looking forward to working on the next Cribs album, saying the group are developing some interesting ideas for their follow-up to 2009’s ‘Ignore The Ignorant‘.

Speaking to BBC 6Music, Marr, who joined the Jarman brothers on a full times basis last year following a successful period of touring, has said their new material is taking on a different feel: “The new stuff, particularly that Ryan’s coming up with, is quite different,” he revealed. “Ryan’s been playing some keyboards and he’s got very inspired by it. It still sounds like the band and his lyrics are always really interesting. Gary’s been doing some stuff in Portland, so it’s all very healthy really. I’m excited about doing a new record.”

The Cribs ferocious live reputation is in big demand this summer, and they are set for a busy period of festival appearances over the next few months, beginning with a spot at Germany’s Rock AM Ring next month. In addition, they will also play the Other Stage at this year’s Glastonbury Festival, and are scheduled for various other events across Europe, culminating with shows at the Reading/Leeds Festival at the end of August.
