Penthouse And Pavement is considered to be one of the first political electronic dance concept albums of the 1980s. The single ‘(We Don’t Need This) Fascist Groove Thang’ demonstrates the left-wing political outlook of the lyrics, and looks at early 1980s Britain under Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and the rise of the Yuppie. The album’s controversial themes includes nuclear war (‘Lets All Make A Bomb’), religious extremism, and America’s global influence. Penthouse And Pavement is featured in the book ‘1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die’.
